Aussie Lads begin search for replacement runner

Aussie Lads are back in the hunt for a runner to fill their slot in the $NZ1 million The Race, by Grins at Cambridge on April 14.

The connections of star Victorian pacer Rock N Roll Doo, who had signed-on to race in the Aussie Lads' slot, have decided to spell the Victoria Cup winner after some indifferent form.

He will not be contesting The Race, by Grins.

“The horse himself is great, but he’s telling us he’s had enough and racing well below his best, so we’re turning him out for a spell,” Rock N Roll Doo’s owner Brendan James said.

“We’re disappointed we won’t get the chance to team with Aussie Lads for this big race, but we appreciate their understanding and hope we can do so in future.”

Aussie Lads representative Dean Shannon said: “We would like to thank Brendan and the Rock N Roll Doo team for the way they’ve handled the situation and we hope we get the chance the to work together again.

“We wish them all the best with getting Rock N Roll Doo back to his best form after a break.

“Now we switch our focus to finding another horse to race the Aussie Lads slot in this great race. We’re in no rush with a lot of great options out there and some fantastic racing, particularly in NSW over the next month.

“We will be watching races such as the Newcastle Mile and Miracle Mile very closely and look forward to partnering with the right horse to fly our flag at Cambridge.”

The Race, by Grins takes place at Cambridge Raceway on April 14.
